WATERLOO REGION (June 9, 2016) – On Tuesday May 31st the Girls’ slo-pitch semi-finals and finals were played, and in the end, St. David’s came out on top.

The first semi-final was between the league’s first place finisher St. David’s, and the fourth placed Monsignor Doyle. St. David’s overpowered Doyle from the first pitch and even though the Marauders fought hard, they were unable to fend off their rival and fell 13-2. The second semi-final saw second seeded St. Mary’s taking on St. Benedict’s.  These two teams have played each other tough all season, but in this matchup, it was the Eagles getting the better of the Saints winning 7-2.

The championship game was set, as the two best teams would face off against each other in a highly competitive game. It was tight throughout with David’s and Mary’s being so evenly matched. Neither of them giving an inch until late in the ball game, when the Celtics grabbed a late one run lead. St. David’s was able to hold on to win the championship 10-9.
