WATERLOO REGION (December 6, 2019) – On Friday, St. Benedict’s grade 12 left side hitter Bryson Meadus was named the senior boys volleyball league’s most valuable player.

Meadus was a force to be reckoned with during the year as he led his Saints to a second straight undefeated District 8 season and a gold medal in each year.

It would have been difficult for the Saints to rack up all those wins without amazing play from Meadus’ teammate and fellow first team all-star Ryan Frias. This is Frias’ second straight year as a first team all-star in the setter position.

Meadus and Frias are joined by teammates Aiden Kennedy and Riley Silva on the second team, and together they collected a silver medal at triple-A CWOSSA.

District 8 silver medalists Resurrection were anchored by two middles who gave many teams issues at the net throughout the season. Grade 12 Noah Lalonde and grade 11 Noah Tyszka were both named as first team all-stars, and their teammate setter, grade 11 Eric Walsh, was credited with second team honours.

Woodland finished second in the regular season standings represented by first team all-star Caden Heyhoe and second team all-star Alex Cronin. Heyhoe and Cronin helped the Cavaliers to a single-A CWOSSA gold medal as well as the single-A consultation championship at OFSAA.

Grade 12 left side attack Jacob Lohrenz was also named to the first team, along with St. David’s grade 11 right side attack Liam Kinahan.

Isaac Weber from Rockway and Hunter Parnell from Père-René-de-Galinée represent their schools as second team all-stars.
