District 8 Badminton Championship set for Thursday and Friday

KITCHENER, Ont. (April 11, 2012) � The Monsignor Doyle Mustangs will aim to keep their badminton dynasty rolling as the 2011-12 District 8 Badminton Championship are set for Thursday and Friday at Conestoga College.

Monsignor Doyle has owned the District 8 Badminton Championship since its inception winning 21 consecutive overall titles and has yet to relinquish the junior or senior title.  The league first began play in 1990-91.  The Mustangs will be aiming for their 22nd straight title in junior, senior and overall categories over the next two days.
The event kicks off tomorrow (April 12) at 9:00am with the senior championship opening competition.  The junior portion of the event will take place Friday (April 13) with the overall champion being crowned following junior play.
All eight District-8 high schools will be represented including Monsignor Doyle CSS, ES P�re-Ren�-de-Galin�e, Resurrection CSS, Rockway MC, St. Benedict CSS, St. David CSS , St. Mary�s HS, Woodland Christian HS.  Also competing in the event is the Koinonia Christian Academy located in Bloomingdale, Ont.
Play is scheduled to run from approximately 9:00am to 2:45pm at the Recreation Centre on campus at Conestoga College.
