WATERLOO, Ont (May 23, 2014) – The St. Mary’s Eagles proved last year’s District 8 title was no fluke as they repeated as D8 girls rugby champions on Friday at St. David Catholic Secondary School winning 20-0 over Resurrection.

St. Mary’s easily defended their title from last season with tries coming from Makenna Edissi, Kyndra Miller, Nikki Garrett and Maggie Srouji.

Resurrection is the only other team to have won a D8 rugby title with their last coming in 2012. Overall they have collected 10 titles while St. Mary’s now has two. District 8 girls rugby was started in 2003.

St. Mary’s has now earned the right to represent District 8 at the CWOSSA Championship which goes May 26-27 at John F. Ross CVI in Guelph, Ont. For more information on that event visit www.cwossa.ca
