WATERLOO REGION (November 4, 2021) – On Thursday afternoon, under a cloud of flurries, the junior boys soccer squad extended their championship streak to eight titles in a row.

The Eagles cruised past opponents this season not allowing a goal until Thursday’s final, in a 6-1 win against St. David’s. Celtics goal came from Aussie Hunt.

St. Mary’s Quintin Gomez scored two goals and teammates Sammy Hajjar, Jinoi Garcia, Jayden Ehiorobo and Chris Jackson each scored one.

Not only do the Eagles have an extended championship streak, they also have an undefeated streak dating back to September 2013 when they lost to Resurrection 3-0. The only blemish since then is a tie in the 2018-19 season.

Also on Thursday, St. Benedict’s upset undefeated Woodland Christian in the junior girls basketball championship in a nail biting 30-29 finish.

Saints’ Eva Mensah lead all scoring with 10 points while teammate Stacy Tran scored 8. Kaylee Chapman led the Cavaliers with 9 points and Laura Rowbotham added 8.
