SOCCER: Sexton takes most valuable player honours in District 8 girls soccer.

WATERLOO REGION (June 24, 2014) – St. Mary’s Cheyenne Sexton was named most valuable player in District 8 girls soccer as the league named its 2013-14 all-star squad on Tuesday afternoon.

Sexton scored six goals in the 2014 campaign and was a top contributor on a Eagle squad that posted a perfect record in District 8 play including 6-0 in the regular season. Sexton also scored in St. Mary’s 6-0 win over the Resurrection Phoenix in the D8 final.

Joining Sexton on the All-Star squad were three other Eagle teammates including Keziah Johnson, Laura Kay and Madison McDonald.

Resurrection had two student-athletes make the all-star squad with Celia McGlynn and Sammy Code earning the nod for the Phoenix. This is McGlynn’s second D8 all-star appearance this season being named as a first team all-star for senior girls basketball in the fall.

Others named to the team include Sierra Dowling (St. David CSS), Rachel Guetter (Woodland CSS), Jessica Fernandes (Monsignor Doyle CSS), Dana Milani (St. Benedict CSS) and Janique Lagos (ESC Père-René-de-Galinée).
