SOC-JR-B: D8 junior boys soccer all-star team announced

WATERLOO REGION (December 11, 2014) – District 8 Athletic Association announced its junior boys soccer All-Stars on Thursday with the 2014-15 champion St. Mary’s Eagles leading the way with three nominations.

Grade 10’s Marko Maletic and Marko Mandekic, both grade 10’s highlighted Eagles contingent and were joined by rookie Lukas Cimermancic.  The Eagles finished the season with a perfect 13-0 record with 10 of those victories coming at the District 8 level.  St. Mary’s would also run the table at the Central Western Ontario Championship  earning their first junior boys CWOSSA title since 2009-10.

Runner up Resurrection had two players named to the team with Jamu Iluya and Sebastian Sgarbossa leading the way for the Phoenix.  Sgarbossa was considered the league’s top goalie.

Monsignor Doyle’s Kyle Mars and Lathel Rosa earned positions on the squad while cross town rival St. Benedicts also had two players named with Cyle Costa and Umberto Pirini-Crandon earning selections.

The St. David Celtics Ben Paton and John Winnett rounded out the District 8 all-star team.

St. Mary’s Cimermancic was joined by Paton (St. David CSS), Rosa (Monsignor Doyle) and Sgarbossa (Resurrection) as the lone grade nine’s making the team.
