The season got underway on Thursday in a hard-fought game between the hosts St. Mary’s Eagles and the visiting Resurrection Phoenix. It is time to take a look and see what happened in the first game of the new season.

These District 8 rivals played a good game, where the score was close and the intensity was on a high-level. In the end it was the Phoenix coming out victorious by the score of 25 – 15.

This game had many great performances, with Kendra Miller, Beverly Osei, and Emily McQuoid all making one try each for St. Mary’s. However the best performances of the day were Britney Haughton and Rachel Engel of Resurrection. Both had great games with Haughton making two tries and Engel making three.

In this first game is any indication, the District 8 season looks to be very competitive.
