WATERLOO REGION (November 30, 2016) – Jenna Berger was a force to be reckoned with during the District 8 field hockey season. Berger lead St. David’s to an undefeated regular season in one of the toughest leagues in the province where they would fall in a tough loss to Resurrection in the final. She would tally six goals in the D8 campaign including two multi-goal games.

Berger was joined on the all-star squad by teammate goalie Marley Dowling who recorded three shutouts for the Celtics in the 2016-17 season. Kristen Straus who scored the only goal for the Celtics in the final, and Chloe Davidson who scored two goals in the D8 season were also named as all-stars.

Resurrection was also recognized with four players named to the all-star squad as they took the D8 title as well as silver medals at both CWOSSA and OFSAA. Grade 12 lockdown defender Christina Sullivan was named to the squad along with grade 10 midfielder Rachel Buttinger. Sammy Dietrich who potted one of Resurrection’s two goals in the D8 final was named to the team along with fellow forward Chloe Hillier who finished second in league scoring with four goals in the season.

A pair of midfielders were selected from St. Mary’s which included grade 11 Caliyena Brown and the lone grade 9 all-star, Ella Murphy.

Monsignor Doyle is represented on the D8 all-star team by grade 12 forward Kelsey Deutschmann.
