WATERLOO REGION (June 19, 2017) – On Monday, District 8 announced that the girls soccer league’s most valuable player is St. David’s Victoria Jensen.

Jensen lead the Celtics to their first District 8 girls soccer title since the 1993 season. In the league final, St. David’s defeated crosstown rival Resurrection 2-1, with Jensen scoring the game winner.

Other Celtics to be named as league all-stars were the defensive pairing of Amanda Calford and Thalia Cruz, as well as their goalkeeper Hannah Petrosino.

Lead by league all-stars Kara Hughes and Krissia Vasquez, Resurrection went on to a silver medal at CWOSSA qualifying them for the AAA OFSAA Championships where they finished with a 1-3 record in pool play.

Père-René-de-Galinée finished fifth in the tough D8 league, but lead by Allyah Rowe, they would go on to win the CWOSSA ‘A’ Championship and capture the fourth place antique bronze medal at OFSAA.

Emma Croswell from St. Benedict’s was named to the all-star team as she collected three shutouts for the Saints in the six game regular season.

St. Mary’s Estevana Montes, Monsignor Doyle’s Ariana Mota and Woodland’s Sydney VanderHoef were also named to the all-star squad.
