WATERLOO REGION (December 6, 2017) – Four St. Mary’s players lead the pack of the District 8 junior boys soccer all-star list this year as they captured the title without dropping a match all season.
Eagles’ grade 10 centre-mid Luka Mandekic makes it to the list for the second year in a row along with fellow grade 10 centre back Brodie Gallant.
The only two grade nines to make this list this year also come from St. Mary’s. Ethan Pereira got the nod while playing the stopper position, which Matej Palanchi scored eight goals in the season including one in the final over Monsignor Doyle.
Doyle finished with the silver medal in the D8 campaign with strong efforts from all-star nomination Josh Martin who also scored eight goals in the 2017 season, four of which came in the D8 semi-final. Martin is joined by teammates Ethan Singh and Jonah Walsh.
Striker Nolan Beddoe led the league in scoring from St. David’s with 11 goals while centre back Connor Johnson played a key role in the Celtic’s successful regular season.
Jared Hughes was named to the quad from Resurrection, along with St. Benedict’s Anthony D’Souza.
