WATERLOO REGION (December 3, 2018) – With the St. Mary’s Eagles finishing another junior soccer season undefeated, it was safe to say they’d lead the pack with all-star nominations on the season.
Matej Palancaji scored nine goals for the Eagles in his District 8 campaign finishing third in league scoring. Palancaji went on to score seven goals in his four games at CWOSSA. He scored a hat trick in a 5-2 semi-final win over Resurrection and a hat trick while capturing the gold medal in a 4-1 over Cameron Heights in the final.
St. Mary’s goalkeeper Ethan Pereira was also named an all-star as he recorded two shutouts in his D8 season and one in CWOSSA pool play.
The Eagles are also represented on the all-star team by striker Dominic Panameno who scored eight goals including one in the D8 title game and midfielder Tiago Fernandes who scored four goals.
Resurrection had a great season from midfielder Ank Nibogora who scored eight goals in District 8 action. Fellow midfielder Migel Gonzalez scored five goals in league play and another two goals while at CWOSSA. Ethan Gomes is the lone defender named as an all-star this season helping the Phoenix to a low in goals against on the season.
Striker Jonnie Dinner from St. David’s was an obvious selection to the squad as he led the league in scoring. Dinner accounted for 18 of his team’s 23 goals in the season.
Monsignor Doyle is represented by all-star Shubh Patel who led the Mustangs with six goals while Adam Kocjan was named to the team representing the St. Benedict Saints.
