WATERLOO REGION (December 5, 2018) – On Wednesday, District 8 announced that grade 12 left side attacker Judah Verbeek would be named the most valuable player for senior boys volleyball.
Verbeek was influential in Woodland’s 9-1 D8 regular season record and led his squad to the championship where they would lose a tough five set match to St. Benedict’s.
Alongside fellow D8 first team all-star Daniel Liargovas and second team all-stars Jesse Isaacs and Caden Hayhoe, Verbeek and the Cavaliers captured their twelfth CWOSSA championship in the last 13 years.
The D8 champion, St. Benedict Saints, are represented by two setters on the first team; grade 12 E.J. Enriquez and grade 11 Ryan Frias.
The Saints collected the CWOSSA ‘AAA’ silver medal supported by D8 second team all-stars Lenny Lombardi and Bryson Meadus.
Grade 12 middle Ben Lassaline was named as a first team all-star for St. Mary’s, while his teammate Jacob Lohrenz was named to the second team.
Rockway’s grade 12 middle Aaron Dyck was given first team honours, and fellow Flame James Torrance-Perks rounds out second team all-star selections.
Rounding out the D8 first team all-stars in Resurrection’s grade 11 left side attacker Noah Lalonde.
