WATERLOO REGION (December 5, 2022) – On Monday, Grade 11 setter Yannick Krauss from Père-René-de-Galinée was announced as the senior volleyball most valuable player for the 2022-2023 season.

Krauss helped lead les Chevaliers to their first ever senior District 8 team title in school history. Along with fellow first team all-star, grade 11 right side attack, Isaac Kirkwood, Père-René-de-Galinée swept through the senior volleyball league finishing undefeated.

Père-René-de-Galinée, along with second team all-star selection Etienne Krauss, would go onto single-A CWOSSA to collect a silver medal and qualify for the OFSAA championships where they’d finish in the top eight on the championship side of the bracket.

Despite collecting the silver medal at District 8, the Snider brothers, along with second team all-star selection Sasha Thiessen, would help the Flames capture their sixteenth senior boys volleyball championship in CWOSSA history. Rockway would go onto single-A OFSAA, winning the silver medal.

St. David’s, led by first team all-star Shahriar Saeedi, had a successful District 8 campaign finishing with a 6-2 regular season record. Saeedi, a grade 12 left side, along with second team selection teammate Noah Taylor, helped the Celtics collect a silver medal at the double-A CWOSSA Championship.

St. Benedict’s advanced to the triple-A CWOSSA championships and are represented by District 8 first team all-star setter Aiden Kennedy, and second team all-star left side Camilo Vasconcelos.

Woodland Christian’s grade 12 right side Luke Marshall rounds out the District 8 senior first team all-star selections, while Resurrection’s Sebastian Rapacki and Monsignor Doyle’s AJ Domingo were named to the second team.
