WATERLOO, Ont. (October 24, 2014) – The field hockey dynasty at Resurrection Catholic Secondary School is alive and well as the Phoenix notched their sixth straight District 8 title on Friday night besting the St. David Celtics 3-0.

Katherine MacMillan and the sister duo of Emily and Danielle Buttinger provided the Phoenix all the scoring power they needed while Janelle Ward recorded the shutout in the win.

Resurrection has won the past six titles and own the nine of the last 10. Overall they have collected 11 District 8 titles since league play started in 1990 (although the league was on hiatus for four seasons between 1999-2002). Resurrection finished D8 league play with a perfect 10-0 record allowing just a single goal all season.

Both Resurrection and St. David will advance to play in the Central Western Ontario (CWOSSA) championship held next week October 29-30 at Woodside Park in Kitchener, Ont. The Phoenix have won three of the last five CWOSSA titles with their last coming in 2012-13.

Resurrection’s main goal is to return to OFSAA where they have appeared in the last four provincial finals winning three of them.
