WATERLOO REGION (November 30, 2016) – Justin Henderson quarterbacked a talented and well coached football team deep into the CWOSSA playoffs and earned himself the MVP nod for his efforts.

Those efforts by Henderson typically included touchdowns through the air and on the ground, as well as kicking field goals and extra points, and the odd interception when he was playing defensive back. Henderson is a name to watch out for down the road.

Joining Henderson as a first team all-star is fellow Celtic Daire Newbrough who scored eight touchdowns as a wide receiver in his 2016 D8 campaign as well as teammate running back Daniel Stirling. St. David’s defensive back Colin Conant was also named a first-team all-star.

St. Benedict’s had an incredible run to the finals as they were led by quarterback Alex Douglas to a first place finish in the D8 regular season. Douglas is joined on the first team by the Saints’ running back Graham Sheppard who scored five touchdowns. Saints grade 12 standout defensive back Nick Stainsby was also given the first team nod.

The game 12 defensive linebacker pairing of Jack Hinsperger and Liam Devitt were named as first team all-stars for Resurrection along with slotback Jamu Iluya who scored four touchdowns in the 2016 season.

The St. Mary’s Eagles are represented by defensive lineman Noah Ross and the lone grade 11 to crack the first team, Jody Brown Jr., who scored two touchdowns in the wide receiver position.
