Resurrection clinches first place in field hockey

KITCHENER, Ont. (October 17, 2013) Resurrection has clinched home field advantage throughout the District 8 Field Hockey playoffs with a 4-0 win over the second place St. Mary’s Eagles on Wednesday afternoon.

Although four regular season games remain on tap for Friday, the playoff schedule is now solidified with  Resurrection (7-0-0) clinching first place with perfect 14 points while St. Mary’s (3-2-2) has secured second place  with one game remaining on their schedule.

Monsignor Doyle (2-3-3) has completed their schedule and cannot improve upon a third place finish posting 7 points in regular season play.  St. David’s who currently has 5 points will finish fourth regardless of the result on Friday as Monsignor Doyle holds the head-to-head tiebreak against the Celtics.

Fridays games see St. David’s meet Resurrection at 3:30pm while St. Mary’s will face off against St. Benedict’s at 4:30pm.

Monday’s Semifinal playoff matches will see Resurrection host the St. David’s in the first semifinal match set for 3:00pm while St. Mary’s will battle Monsignor Doyle at 4:00pm in the other semifinal.  All games will be played at Resurrection CSS.

Resurrection is aiming for their 10th District 8 title since league play began in 1990 and their eight in nine years.
