WATERLOO, Ont (May 23, 2014) – The Resurrection Phoenix captured the District 8 senior boys soccer title on Friday dusting the St. Mary’s Eagles 4-1 in the championship match held at St. David Catholic Secondary School.

Ryan Vyrostko opened the scoring just 30 seconds into the game while Arman Boroumand would score later in the first quarter to lead the Phoenix to victory. Also scoring for Resurrection were Ryan Whiltshire and Phil Mary in the win.

St Mary’s lone goal came late in the game with Florin Toma finding the back of the net for the Eagles.

The title is Resurrection’s 12 senior boys soccer title and their second in three seasons. District 8 started play in 1990-91.

On Monday, the Resurrection Phoenix will host Assumption Catholic School from District 5 in Brantford for the right to move on to CWOSSA. That game is set for 3:00pm at Resurrection Catholic Secondary School in Waterloo.
