TRACK & FIELD: Resurrection Reclaims Overall Title

WATERLOO REGION (May 15, 2015) – Resurrection, lead by their midget and junior girls, recaptured the overall District 8 track & field championship on Thursday at Jacob Hespler.

Resurrection also captured the combined girls title, while St. Benedict’s won the overall boys division lead by their junior and senior boys divisions.

Top individual performers were included St. David’s senior Chance Newell who captured gold medals in the senior boys 100M, 200M and 300M races. Also collecting three golds in the senior boys division was Resurrection’s Brendan Masters. Masters won the 1500M and 3000M races and set a new D8 record in the boys steeplechase.

The top performer in the senior girls division was Sydney Collins of St. Mary’s High School who was also a triple gold winner. Collins won the 800M, 1500M and 400M hurdles races while helping the St. Mary’s senior girls team win their team division.

The top two finishers in each event at the D8 championships will advance to the CWOSSA Championships held May 20-21, 2015 at Jacob Hespler Secondary School.
