WATERLOO REGION (April 14, 2020) – On Tuesday, District 8 announced that Elyse Hutchinson has been named the league’s most valuable player as she led St. Benedict’s to their third straight senior District 8 title.

During the Saints three year stretch they have accumulated three championships, and only one loss. With Hutchinson being the only grade 11 MVP is recent history, it appears the St. Benedict’s program will be in good hands for at least another season.

Hutchinson’s teammate, grade 11 libero Gemma Piraino joins her as a first team all-star selection, while Saints grade 12 outside attack Makayla Raymond was named a second team selection.

St. Mary’s took the Saints to an exciting fifth set tiebreaker in the District 8 championship and is recognized with first team all-star selections Paulina Downer and Rivanna Laslavic. Grade 12 left side Kyra Patterson represents the Eagles as a second team selection.

Chantal Lapierre from Père-René-de-Galinée was recognized as a first team all-star after leading her squad to the best regular season record in school history.

Resurrection is represented on the first team by grade 12 outside Bryn Morgan and on the second team by grade 12 outside Marissa Norcott.

Grade 11 middle Zoe Suderman from Rockway rounds out first team all-star selections, and teammate Julia Kehl was named to the second team.

Two grade 11 power hitters, Kate Drost from Woodland and Madison Schill from St. David’s, complete the second team all-star selections.
