WATERLOO REGION (December 10, 2014) – Resurrection Catholic Secondary School’s Danielle Buttinger was named the most valuable player in field hockey as the Phoenix captured their sixth consecutive D8 championship, and fourth OFSAA gold in five years.
Most valuable player Danielle Buttinger was joined by fellow Phoenix teammates Emily Buttinger, Katherine MacMillan and Rebecca Vitello as all-star selections.
St. David Celtics goalie Marley Downey was unable to withstand the Phoenix attack in the D8 final, but was given the nod as the lone grade nine named to the all-star squad. Grade 12 Julia Schnurr and grade 10 Kristen Straus joined their teammate as D8 all-stars.
Teammate midfielders Kailyn Rodriques and Christina Sine represent the St. Mary’s Eagles as all-stars, while Monsignor Doyle’s Brittany Melo rounds out the all-star selections for 2014.
