Established in 2022-2023, the Young Leader Award was created to recognize teachers within their first ten years of teaching who have made an outstanding contribution to school sport.
The recipient is selected based on the following factors:
- Extensive coaching experience since they began teaching
- Exemplify a high level of sport values that align with the objectives of District 8
- Additional leadership contribution to District 8 an asset, i.e. volunteers for convening and/or member of committees
The first recipient of the Young Leader Award in 2022-2023 was Lisa Lang from St. David Catholic Secondary School.
