SOC-JB: Semifinals set for junior boys soccer

WATERLOO REGION, Ont. (October 21, 2014) – The St. Mary’s Eagles roll into the District 8 junior boys soccer playoffs as the team to beat holding a perfect record and the No. 1 seed after play concluded on Monday night.

The Eagles scored 47 goals and allowed just nine goals en route to a unblemished 8-0 season this year. They enter the playoffs as the top seed aiming to repeat as District 8 champions. If successful they will also claim their ninth D8 title in 12 seasons.

St. David’s hold the No. 2 seed with a 5-3 record while the Resurrectio Phoenix claimed third place with a even 4-4 record. St. Benedict’s took fourth place while Monsignor Doyle finished fifth – out of the playoffs.

Semifinals are set for Wednesday, Oct. 22 with Resurrection visiting St. David (3pm) and St. Mary’s hosting St. Benedict’s (3:30pm).

The winners will play in the District 8 championship set for Friday, October 24 at 3:30pm. The junior boys soccer championship will be followed by the District 8 Girls Field Hockey Championship at 5:30pm.
