WATERLOO REGION (November 8, 2019) – On Wednesday night at Warrior Stadium in Waterloo, the St. David’s Celtics regained their District 8 title in a 35-7 win over the underdog Saints.

The Saint’s started their season 0-4 but reeled of an impressive three wins in a row to set themselves up to contend for the title.

St. David’s entered the finals on their own three game win streak, and coming off a semi-final bye, had intentions to recapture the title after a last second heartbreaking loss in last year’s championship.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Celtics settled into the second frame with a pair of touchdowns from Nathan Dewar and Nolan Beddoe to take a 14-0 lead at the half.

The second half saw much more of Dewar and Beddoe as Dewar rushed for another two touchdowns and tossed his second touchdown pass of the game to Beddoe.

Noah Medeiros scored the lone touchdown for the Saints late in the second half.

The Celtics will travel North on Thursday to play St. Mary’s of Owen Sound in the CWOSSA semi-final in hopes to qualify for the CWOSSA Championship taking place November 19th in Guelph.

In the District 8 junior Championship, Resurrection captured their fifth straight title in a 27-7 win over St. Benedict’s.

Phoenix receiver Tyson Pahl caught the first touchdown of the game on a pass from Lucas Cabral. Cabral scored his second passing touchdown of the game in the third quarter connecting with Damien Marinelli.

Running back Anthony Munroe ran in two touchdowns for Resurrection to seal the victory.

Aidan Jackman scored the lone touchdown for St. Benedict’s.
