WATERLOO REGION (May 13, 2016) – Both the boys and girls District 8 soccer regular-seasons have come to an end, meaning the playoffs have gotten underway.
For the District 8 senior boys season it was St. David’s finishing first in the division and Resurrection finishing second. As these two teams were the best throughout the regular season both have punched their ticket into the semi-finals. Resurrection will play host to St. Mary’s on Monday in their semi-final match up as the Eagles were able to beat Woodland Christian by a score 3 – 0 in the first quarterfinal. St. David’s will play St. Benedict’s in their semi-final as the Saints defeated Monsignor Doyle by a score of 2 – 0 in the quarterfinal game. The championship game will occur between two of these four teams on May 18th at 4:00 PM at St. David’s.
The girls District 8 season saw St. Mary’s finished in first place and Resurrection finishing second. Due to this both teams are automatically in to the semi-finals. In the semifinals Resurrection will face St. Benedict’s who won against ES Père-René-de-Galinée 3 – 0 in the quarterfinals to book a date with Resurrection on May 16th at 3:45 PM. In the other quarterfinals, it was St. David’s who came out victorious over Woodland Christian 3 – 1 and will challenge top-seeded St. Mary’s on May 16th at 3:30 PM. The championship game is scheduled for May 18 at 6 PM following the boys’ final.
