WATERLOO REGION (December 16, 2024) – On Monday, District 8 announced that St. David’s Addison Tillich headlines the field hockey all-star list as the league’s most valuable player as voted by coaches.
Tillich, a Grade 11 forward, scored seven goals in eight District 8 games and helped the Celtics to their second straight District 8 championship title.
“Addison was an integral part of the team’s success this season, leading the league in scoring,” said St. David’s coach Rebecca Hall. “This is Addison’s second year playing field hockey and has quickly come to dominate up front. We are excited to see what next year brings.”
Tillich, along with fellow first team all-star teammates Deanna Bordman and Olivia Weiss, recorded one win and one loss in CWOSSA pool play, losing to the eventual OFSAA Champion by one goal in the CWOSSA semi-final. This is Bordman’s second year as a District 8 field hockey all-star, while Weiss was named for the first time as a Grade 11 this year.
Second team honours went to Celtics Brinley Cartier, Lily MacDonald, Emma Maric and Eden Murphy.
Resurrection finished atop the regular season table with a perfect six win, zero loss season with veteran leadership from Grade 12 players Carly Henry at midfield and Mady Masojc on defence. Grade 11 Maya Blackshaw was also named to the first team, scoring three goals from the midfield position.
Resurrection’s Grade 12 goalie Sami Fox and Grade 12 midfielder Alyse Bilitz, along with teammate Ashley Kramer were named to the second team.
Grade 12 first team all-stars Ava Costa and Julie Papalia represent Monsignor Doyle in the school’s second season returning to District 8 play. Costa scored two goals for the Mustangs as a forward while Papalia provided leadership in the midfield. Allegra Oliveira is the lone goalie named as a first team all-star recording two shutouts.
The Mustangs are represented by second team all-stars Bernadine Leal and Gabriel Martin as Grade 12 defenders, and Grade 10 forward Megan Graham.
Sisters Amelia and Madeline Piggott were named to the top squad representing St. Mary’s as a formidable midfield pair. The Eagles also named Grade 11 defender Olivia Fox to the District 8 second team.
