WATERLOO REGION (December 20, 2016) – After leading the Phoenix to an undefeated District 8 campaign, Sharp receives the league’s top individual honour.
Sharp played a key leadership role for the Phoenix as Resurrection ended their season with a silver medal at CWOSSA falling to a tough St. Johns’s squad from Brantford.
Joining Sharp on the first team are her teammates Krissia Vasquez who was last year’s MVP, and grade 10 guard Sydney Guker Wickie.
St. Mary’s Summer Pahl was a shoe in to be named to the first team as she was one of the league’s leading scorers. She is joined by St. Benedict’s grade 12 guard Julia Mascerenhas who rounded out the first team selections.
Grade 11’s Buse Bin Edward and Delina Romano were named to the second team which means the entire starting lineup for the unbeaten Phoenix were recognized as all-stars.
D8 Finalists Saints’ Alex Webb (grade 9) and Maya Danis (grade 11) were given the nod to the second team as well which will surely set the stage for St. Benedict’s senior squad next year.
St. David’s grade 11 guard Emily White was also selected with senior second team honours.
