WATERLOO REGION (April 29, 2020) – On Wednesday, Nathan Bartlett who helped the Eagles win their first District 8 boys hockey championship in more than 25 years was named the league’s MVP.
Bartlett caught fire in the second half of the season scoring nine goals in his final four games, including three in the Eagles semi-final win over St. Benedict’s, and a goal and an assist in the Championship game over St. David’s.
Bartlett’s teammate Jesse Schill joins him as a first team all-star selection. The grade 12 forward scored five goals in his D8 campaign including the game winner in the Championship. Eagles’ grade 12 defenceman Angelo Duscio was named to the second team with four regular season goals.
St. David’s is represented on the first team by Ryan Suljak. The grade 12 forward scored four goals in D8 play as he helped the Celtics to the silver medal.
Grade 11’s Josh Cornfield and Cole Main from the Celtics were named as second team all-stars.
Resurrection forwards Aidan Lazenby and Blake Stephenson were recognized with first team honours as they each scored five goals and helped Resurrection secure the best regular season record.
Bryden Arnold and Will Soehner from Resurrection were named as second team all-star selections.
Grade 12 forward Graem Costigan from St. Benedict’s rounds our first team all-star selections while teammate Tyler Avelar was named to the second team.
