WATERLOO REGION (October 9, 2024) – On Tuesday, the District 8 Boys and Girls Golf Championships were held at Cambridge Golf Club with both individual winners helping their schools claim the team championship.

Gabriel Da Costa

In the boys’ division, St. Mary’s Gabriel Da Costa posted the lowest score on the day, with a two-over 74. His round included four bogies and two birdies on hole 10 and 16. Da Costa and his teammates, Declan Savoie (81), Xander Fulop (82), and Luke Hodgson (84) recorded the low team score of 321.  This championship is St. Mary’s first team golf title since 2011-12, when it was a senior only event. They snuck past St. David’s who shot a combined 326.

The girls’ squad from Monsignor Doyle repeated their team championship from last year while also collecting two individual medals. Maya Incitti won the gold medal recording the low round of 87, while teammate Hope Reis collected the bronze medal shooting a 91.

At the Girls’ CWOSSA championship last week, Incitti scored an 86 and collected a bronze medal which was good enough to punch her ticket to the OFSAA Championships October 16-17 in Tecumseh.
