WATERLOO REGION (May 29, 2024) – On Tuesday, Père-René-de-Galinée entered the girls’ slo-pitch playoffs as the fourth seed in a four team bracket, and left the diamond with a team set of gold medals.

In their semi-final matchup against top seeded St. David, les Chevalières needed extra innings to knock off the Celtics in a 6-5 win, and advance to the Championship.

Père-René-de-Galinée was then poised to take on St. Mary’s after the Eagles took care of Monsignor Doyle in their semi-final matchup.

Les Chevalières scored runs early in the championship, but the Eagles stormed back in the middle innings to take a 7-5 lead entering the last inning. Père-René-de-Galinée scored three runs in the top half of the final frame, and shut the Eagles out in the bottom half to close out the championship 8-7.

With District 8 receiving two entries into next week’s CWOSSA slo-pitch festival, both Père-René-de-Galinée and St. Mary’s will advance. Their rematch is scheduled for 10:45 AM on Monday May 3rd, at Peter Hallman Ball Yard.
