WATERLOO REGION (October 22, 2024) – On Monday at Fountain Street Soccer Complex in Cambridge, the St. Mary’s junior soccer team claimed their eleventh straight District 8 championship with no losses or ties in the season.

St. Mary’s had twice defeated their championship opponent, Resurrection, earlier in the season in 4-1 and 3-1 victories. For the third time, the Phoenix were unable to fend off the Eagles attack.

Dionis Jakupi found the back of the net twice for St. Mary’s, while teammate Kaleb Radae scored once giving the Eagles a 3-0 advantage. Resurrection’s Rafael Wootten scored in the second half to narrow the gap to two, but a comeback fell short, and the score finished 3-1.

St. Mary’s and Resurrection will both advance to the CWOSSA Championship on October 24 & 25, 2024 at the University of Guelph.
