Emily Buttinger named D8 field hockey most valuable player

WATERLOO REGION (December 1, 2015) – Resurrection Catholic Secondary School’s Emily Buttinger was named the most valuable player in field hockey as the Phoenix captured their seventh consecutive D8 championship, and fifth OFSAA gold in six years.

Most valuable player Emily Buttinger was joined by fellow Phoenix teammates Alexa Corrado, Rebecca Vitello and Christina Sullivan as all-star selections.  

As a grade 10, Marley Dowling from St. David’s makes it a second straight year she has been recognized as a District 8 all-star, as she was one of the top goalies in the league. Dowling’s midfielder teammates’, grade 10 Jenna Berger and grade 11 Kristen Straus were also named to the all star squad.

Monsignor Doyle is represented on the all-star team by grade 11 forward Kelsey Deutschmann and grade 11 goalie Isabel Johnston.

Grade 12, Sarah De Amorim was the lone all-star from St. Mary’s High School.
