TENNIS: Resurrection Ladies Sweep District 8

WATERLOO REGION (October 18, 2021) – On Thursday in Waterloo, the Resurrection tennis team was looking to capture all three District 8 team championships that they held since the Fall 2019 season. 

In the girls doubles draw, the final came down to an all Resurrection showdown where Julia Prince and Alex Slavcev edged past teammates Sarah Wilson and Adelaide Ell for the gold medal. 

Resurrection’s Aldiana Lazoja went undefeated on the day winning the gold medal in the girls singles draw. Lazoja won over St. Mary’s Ava Bizjak in the final who collected the silver. 

With Resurrection collecting two gold medals and a silver medal, they were able to retain the girls team title. 

In the boys singles event, Lucas Klopchic from Resurrection won gold beating St. Mary’s Callum Tiernan in the final. 

The boys pair of Nicolas Amaya and Robin Bolanos from St. Mary’s won the boys doubles event over St. David’s Joel Dorvilliers and Adrian Kocan. This win helped secure the boys team champions for St. Mary’s. 

Resurrection’s mixed doubles pair of Ashley Blazek and Luka Tomic defeated Erica Miranda and Jacob Vieno from St. Benedict’s to win gold, and secure the overall team championship for Resurrection.
