WATERLOO REGION (December 11, 2023) – On Monday, District 8 announced the all-stars for the Fall field hockey league which was headlined by St. David’s Julia Paleczny who was selected by coaches as the league’s MVP.

Paleczny, a grade 12 defender, helped the Celtics to their first District 8 championship title in 30 years, winning a highly contested 1-0 final over Resurrection.

“Julia was definitely a leader on the team,” said St. David’s coach Rebecca Hall. “During practices, she would lead the team through skills, helping those that were struggling.  During games, her presence on the field was felt, even though she was on defense.  She controlled many of the plays when our team had the advantage and gave us confidence in our defence when the other team got the ball in our end.”

Hall also shared that Paleczny plans to attend Wilfrid Laurier University next year to study History.
