WATERLOO REGION (October 19, 2023) – On Wednesday at Woodside Park in Kitchener, St. David’s ended a three decade championship drought in District 8 field hockey by topping perennial powerhouse Resurrection.

For most of the first half, St. David’s controlled play threatening to score on many occasions. It finally paid out midway through the first frame when Deanna Bordman scored after a penalty corner.

St. David’s defence and goalie Emma Maric were brick walls in the second half stopping a relentless offensive attack from Resurrection.

In the end, St. David’s won 1 – 0 and collected their first District 8 field hockey title since the Fall of 1992.

The Celtics will now advance to the CWOSSA Championship on Friday October 25 & 26, 2023 at Woodside Park where they’ll compete in a pool with the champion from Districts 4/10 and the WCSSAA silver medalists. Both finalists from CWOSSA will advance to the OFSAA Championship in Milton November 2-4, 2023.
