D8 TENNIS: Resurrection claims combined team tennis title

WATERLOO REGION (October 12, 2023) – On Tuesday at Greystone Racquet Club in Waterloo, the District 8 Tennis titles were decided, and Resurrection walked away with the top prize. 

In the boys singles division, Resurrection’s Akshay Ramachandran won the gold medal defeating Christi Oana from Père-René-de-Galinée in the final.

It was an all Resurrection boys double final between Thomas Morgan and Noah Kayser and teammates Ethan Morgan and Liam Peters. In the end, Morgan and Kyser claimed gold and Morgan and Peters took the silver. All together, they helped claim the overall boys titles for Resurrection. 

Resurrection’s Boys Doubles Teams

Theodora Draga from Père-René-de-Galinée cruised through the field in the girls singles division claiming her second straight gold medal as a grade 10. The silver medal went to St. Mary’s Sophia Bowman. Both Père-René-de-Galinée and St. Mary’s tied for the overall girls championship.

In the girls doubles division, Hannah Van Hartingsveldt and Elise Reed from St. David captured the gold medal over Maya Slavcev and Isabella Gancevich from Resurrection.

The mixed doubles gold medals were won by Bella Renaud and Max Sahadeo from Père-René-de-Galinée while the silver medals were claimed by St. Mary’s Aiden To and  Aizah Tauseef.

Qualifying participants will play in the CWOSSA Championships on Friday October 20, 2023 at Greystone in Waterloo. OFSAA Championships will take place in June 2024.
