WATERLOO REGION (April 12, 2023) – District 8 announced their all-star rosters from the girls hockey season on Wednesday, with Megan Bell headlining as most valuable player. 

Bell, a grade 11 forward, helped St. David secure their fifth consecutive District 8 championship in girls hockey, scoring 18 goals in 13 games, including two in the District 8 championship. 

“Megan is a very dependable forward on and off the ice,” said St. David’s coach Krista Vrolyk. “Throughout the season she led St. David in points and proved herself as an incredible goal scorer. With a calm presence and style of play, she was a huge part of the team’s success.”

Along with teammate and fellow first team all-star Kamryn Szumlinski, Bell and the Celtics squad swept through the ‘A/AA’ CWOSSA girls hockey championship tournament outscoring their opponents 26 goals to four. It would be much the same at the OFSAA championship where they completed their perfect season, winning all six games with a plus-21 goal differential and collecting the OFSAA gold medal. 

Representing St. David as second team all-stars is Bell’s twin sister Lilly on defence, and grade 12 forward Casey Beisel. 

Resurrection finished their District 8 campaign with a silver medal led by Ashley Kraemer, the lone grade nine named as a girls hockey all-star. Joining Kraemer from the Phoenix on the second team is grade 11 goalie Skyla Soehner and Delaney Collins on defence. 

Aviana Iantorno represents St. Benedict as a first team all-star, scoring 16 goals in nine games. Fellow grade 12 teammate Vanessa Gillard was named as a second team all-star. 

Monsignor Doyle is represented by first team all-star Chloe Gregory and second team all-star Alex Willem while St. Mary’s Brooke Voll is the lone Eagle named as a girls hockey all-star.
