WATERLOO REGION (December 14, 2023) – District 8 announced their all-stars for the junior soccer which was headlined by four St. Mary’s players who helped secure the schools tenth league title in as many seasons.
Grade 9 striker Dionis Jakupi received the all-star nomination by finishing at the top of league scoring with 17 goals in ten games, including six multi-goal games.
Jakupi is joined by fellow Eagle, grade 10 Noah Lankowski who added four goals on the season from the wing position. Samson Pusztahegy and Jake Gouthroi locked down the middle of the field for St. Mary’s and both are making their second appearance in as many years as District 8 all-stars.
St. Benedict’s is represented by a pair of grade 10 centre midfielders, Jaden Araujo and Blake Doherty. Araujo scored four goals on the season while Dohery potted a pair. Saints’ goalkeeper Liam Reid was also recognized as a league all-star.
Grade 10 centre-back Colton Wagner from Resurrection is making his second appearance as an all-star in junior soccer, while his grade nine teammate Michel Sadaowski was also named to the squad. Sadaowski was the leading scorer for the Phoenix with seven goals on the season, including one hattrick.
Tiago Borges from Monsignor Doyle was selected as an all-star scoring five goals in eight games for the Mustangs.
Celtics’ grade 10 centre-back Stefan Koprivica rounds out the 2023-2024 junior soccer all-star selections.
